A setting of Frank O’Hara’s “A True Account of Talking to the Sun at Fire Island,” the final movement of the song cycle “Algebra of Night” by Eugene O’Brien.

The performers are mezzo soprano Deanne Meek and members of the 21st Century Consort, the resident new music ensemble of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.: Jeremy Black, violin; Daniel Foster, viola; Rachel Young, cello; Lisa Emenheiser, piano; and Christopher Kendall, music director.

“Algebra of Night” was premiered and recorded by the Consort at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in February 2015.
